Group 6 went on a investigation this afternoon to explore evidence of human impact on the land. I am sworn to secrecy about what they discovered, and will not post photos of the evidence online so I will not spoil it for future generations of campers, but here are some pieces of evidence of how well our campers are doing out in the forest moving and exploring.

Group 6 investigates a mystery site
Recreation time Wednesday
This afternoon given the heat campers were given the option to cool off in lake Dunmore, take so well deserved showers, or just have fun playing whiffle ball as you can see in the video.
Pictures from dinner and evening activities
Here are a few random pictures from Wednesday night. More post hopefully to come as the evening progresses. Another beautiful day up here at KEEC!
Birds with group 8
Kim French took these great pictures of the adventures of group 8 as they learned about birds this morning.
Who have we missed?
Are you looking for your happy little camper and don't see their smiling face?
Well drop me an email with the camper's name and we will try to make sure they show up in our blog :)

Group 1 learns about the People of the Dawn
Group 1 spent the somewhat rainy afternoon Tuesday learning about the People of the Dawn, the literal translation of the name of the local Abenaki people who once lived around the lake where our camp is located. After exploring how they were able to satisfy their basic needs in comparison to our modern lifestyle, campers tried out two forms of technology used in the past, the bow drill and the atlatl. Campers were able to generate lots of smoke with the drill, but not quite fire in the wet conditions. As for the atlatl, they would need more practice before trying to hunt for deer with them.
Water Power with group 7
Group 7 went out to visit local examples of water power, both old and new. Thank you to Ms Schwartz for the pictures.
Cookout Video and more pictures

Tuesday PM update
We all had a great day up here at KEEC today. The rain interrupted a few minor activities, but the weather cooperated just enough to get in the traditional hobo cookout dinner tonight. Kudos to the KEEC staff for being flexible and giving our campers the opportunity to enjoy this experience. Many photos and videos were taken of the cookout, this post contains photos from Ms Ramsdell, more to come in future posts.
Inspection in Bear cabin Tuesday AM
Every morning cabins are inspected for neatness and preparation for the day. The kids of Bear cabin had a song for the inspectors. Thank you to Ms Ramsdell for the video.
