The Scat Song

For those of you out there who did not believe they sang a song about scat at KEEC, or have had the song stuck in your head, this is for you!

Final Fire Circle

Tonight the study groups presented their learning in the form of a skit at the final fire circle of the week.  The KEEC tradition is for a couple of the counselors to be the MC's for the show, and create a story to weave the skits together.  Veteran staffer Red worked with fellow counselor Alex to use the Native American culture to tell an amusing story that led into each group's topic.

Sadly it was pretty dark when most of the skits were preformed, but the video below shows most of the introduction and a few parts of the first two skits.

Rock Wall Climbing Afternoon Session

Rock Wall Climbing

Thursday afternoon rock wall climbers pushed themselves to new "heights" as they did some bouldering and attempted some higher climbs.

"All Day Hike"

"All Day" Hike

Today's "All Day" hike started out full of excitement.  We had an unprecedented number of campers sign up for the "All Day" hike today.  Everyone was really excited because this hike is rigorous and fifteen students felt that they could do it.
Heavy rain set in but that did not stop this group from having fun.  There was lots of laughter and a ton of support shown to one another as campers traversed the soggy and even slippery terrain.  I am so very proud of the kids for pushing through, keeping positive, and lending a hand to other hikers.  With conditions such as these, it was important to have fun and laugh.  Below is a video, created by some of these hikers (true comedians) while we hike up and down the mountain.  Enjoy, and try  not to laugh too hard!
(Don't worry, nobody actually fell off the cliff.)

Busy Beavers Building a Dam

This afternoon a group of constructive dam builders created an impressively high dam on the KEEC hillside, then had fun releasing the deluge!

Pictures take by Mrs Parsons, thank you!

X-Stream Exploraton

A group of hardy and enthusiastic adventurers took on the choice of X-Stream hiking this morning, where you hike along, in, and thorough a stream in the beautiful woods here at KEEC.  Despite the rain making us wet from above as the stream made us wet from below much fun was had in the mud, rocks, and moss.  The elements conspired to try to stop me from documenting this adventure, but they were mostly unsuccessful!

Ethan Allen Cave Adventure - Thursday am

Amy H... I had the pleasure of going on the Ethan Allen Cave adventure with 5 great kids: Morgan, Mike, Willem, Graeme and Leila. We hiked up to the cave that Ethan Allen and his Green Mtn Boys hid out with. We spent about 40 minute in the cave trying to stay dry. We decided the cave had a living room, kitchen with sink, and a bedroom. See below for more info....
before the rain....

Here are the kids standing in the "living room"

Mike's walking stick made a perfect coat rack as we hung out in the cave for a while
Out in front of the cave

Mike spent a lot of time in the bedroom digging for arrowheads. Willem said he wouldn't mind sleeping up here.

Lunch at the Falls of Lana after hiking from the cave over and down and up and over glacial rocks

Staying Dry at the Falls of Lana!

FK here. We made it up, over, and all around the Falls of Lana this afternoon. The rain has held off so everyone is feeling more comfortable. Thank goodness for the woodstoves during quiet time. We all needed to dry off and warm up.

We're looking forward to Taco Night tonight followed by the closing campfire! More posts soon!
