I sadly lost the draft of this trip Amy Hamblett wrote...will have her add in later :(

Falls of Lana Hike

A group of 10 chose the Falls of Lana hike this afternoon.  We explored above, below, and around the river, its rocks, and the spectacular falls.

Glaicers with group 9

Glaciers is an investigation that helps to illustrate the power and history of glacial activity in the valley.  Campers bury a model of a glacier in the sand, which they named Mt. Nine after their study group number.  They then went on a hike up Burnt Mt that affords an excellent overlook of the valley, where they discussed how the glaciers

carved the terrain here many years ago.  When they returned "Mt Nine" had melted, leaving behind the stones that had been frozen in it.

Weds. Random Photos

We have random photos at different times that are too good to pass up. Here are a few from Wednesday -FK

Disc Golf

We practiced our basic skills down on the KEEC Fields before heading up to the 9 hole course on the side of Mt. Moosalamoo. Great form was shown by all!

The first 9 holes was played in groups of 5. Our skills rapidly improved until our arms go tired.

We also noticed that as we played that we needed to be kind to our surroundings. Some have said that Disc Golf has a fair amount of karma involved. We tested the theory by being encouraging and supportive. It seemed to work. The students were all talking about how they need to head over to the Pinnacle to play a few holes over there. For the parents, the discs are about $10 each and are available at the Chester Hardware.

Choice Day!

Today is choice investigation day, so instead of adventuring with study groups campers are will be off with other kids who choose the same adventure.  The morning group brings a packed lunch at stay out til about 1:30, then the afternoon groups start soon after so don't expect much blogging today until the evening.

Hobo Cookout

We had a lovely warm night for hobo cookout.  After a lesson from hobo Joe campers set off to cook their burgers.

Pioneers

Campers traveled back to the year 1717, by means of the 'magic' gong, to experience what life was like in that time.   They first stopped at the general store for supplies to make johnny cakes out of flour, corn. baking soda and water.  We then ventured into the woods to collect fuel for a fire, and cooked them in a cast iron skillet.

KEEC Jobs: Second Half Dishwashers

Seeing that we are halfway through our stay here at KEEC campers who have had jobs get a break, replaced by campers who have the 'second half' of the same job.  Here is the new dishwashing crew!
