This morning group 4 went out on an investigation of different types of wetlands, starting with a swamp, then onto a lagoon, and ending with lake Dunmore, which was a great was to rinse off some of the mud!

Good Morning from KEEC!
Our day has started with magic spots. Campers awoke and got ready to spend some quiet time along the lake to journal, draw, and reflect. Amazing to see these kids ready to go get started on their day before 7 AM. Now off to breakfast we go!
The first day closed with a fun and entertaining fire circle after study groups worked to develop their skits for later in the week. The moon rose over the lake as we transitioned to bed time rituals and read aloud. Scroll down for a short video from the fire tonight.
PS- feel free to leave comments in the blog, we enjoyed the encouragement!
Here are some images from our first hours at KEEC. Campers got their name tags and settled into their cabins, had a delicious lunch, and have been doing activities with the Keewaydin staff all afternoon.
Today is our last day at school before we load buses and head up to Lake Dunmore Monday morning.
Remember students need to arrive all packed (and labeled) for our trip Monday morning by 8 AM. We plan to load buses and roll out of Chester by 9 so don't be late!
If you find you are missing items for you student, like a rain coat, we may be able to help, but please reach out ASAP to your classroom teacher if you have an issue.
On Friday we played the predator and prey game. I was an omnivore. The omnivores were called to go out after the herbivores. When we got called we all ran over to the rock climbing wall because that's where most of the herbivores were hiding. But when we got there they weren’t there and we saw them sneaking off in the woods so we ran after them. We cornered some of them behind the boys bathroom. I tagged one of them, it was Ryan.B. Then soon after that we saw the carnivores coming out then we all ran behind the rock climbing wall for a few minutes. After we were done I asked a few other omnivores where the water board was. They knew and showed me. When I found it by some bushes there was an herbivore there. I ran at him and he ran away. I was about to use it when a carnivore jumped out from the bushes, then I ran away. After I ran away I saw an herbivore running at the water board but the carnivore was still there and started chasing the herbivore away. As they were gone I used the water board. Then I saw all the herbivores herd around a bush. I ran to them and they all ran away. When I got there the food board was there so I used it. After a few minutes when I was chasing an herbivore into a bush the human called me out so I lost. COOL
