Writing by 7 AM? At KEEC we do! Campers woke to the gong, gathered a few basic needs and went to find a quiet spot by Lake Dunmore for a reflective moment. We then had a yummy breakfast of bacon and french toast, hot and cold cereal, and fruit.

Goodnight from KEEC
The fire has burned down and its time to get some rest, even the adults.
Tomorrow the campers will begin the day with magic spots, then off on AM investigations after breakfast. Our next posts will probably be around lunchtime, after groups have returned from hikes, mystery adventures, and wetlands muck. Woohoo :)

Fire Circle Fun
The evening concluded with a rousing time around the camp fire, with games, stories, and traditional KEEC jokes (ask them to explain "Ma what's for dinner?!" when they get home.)
Later I will try to edit the video of the game called SHAZAM! Too long to upload all of it (about 15 minutes)

Natures Cycles with study group six
After lunch the study groups went off on the fields and woods around campus to learn and review about the cycles in Ecology, but first they tried a few challenges. One was to reorder themselves by birthday while balancing on a log. Hilarity ensued!
Group six has named themselves the Ragin' Avacados, as seen on the whiteboard below.
At the end of the activity time the group wrote poems inspired by a large decomposing stump.
Here is one of the poems, by Royce.
Brittle and fragile
Leavin life, turning to soil, dying
Crashin down with life within
It lived a long time

KEEC Jobs: The Dishwashers
If only we all had a giant sprayer and a commercial dishwasher at home, then kids would love doing the dishes!
First Fire Circle and Study Groups
After claiming bunks and hearing about the cabin rules we all met at the fire circle for details about our week.
Then the small study groups that will work together all week broke off went on a tour of the campus.
The groups all ended their tour at the dining hall for a yummy lunch to fuel our afternoon adventures!
PS-Feel free to use the comment feature to pass along greetings and request pics, it is great to hear that the blog is being seen back home.
